Homeward Bound

After leaving Crescent City we headed for Grants Pass once again and spent a night there. We enjoyed the last of the quiet drive as we knew we were headed for the I-5 and multiple lanes and plentiful traffic. From there we headed home via Seattle. Sang 🎢 Happy Birthday to Tamara 🎢 as we crossed the Portland bridge....did you hear us?! 😘

We stopped again in Vancouver, WA for a quick lunch at the same restaurant πŸ’–

I was so excited for our food I forgot to take a picture πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Good thing we had an audio book to listen to .... long drive...we hit a couple of torrential downpours and boy were they ever scary. Couldn’t see a thing at one point yikes! We also saw 5 rainbows consecutively on the drive...it was crazy I tell you simply crazy.

Spent another night with Valentina and Mark in Seattle sharing our stories with them over yet another great meal and some Oregon wine. Brent is still not drinking ...Karl...I really think you broke him!

Thank you to all our family and friends for making this a memorable trip. It was a long drive but so worth it, great seeing you all and Will I hope you were happy with being surprised...

Love you all πŸ₯°

The Long and Winding Road

This song is now an earworm πŸ˜‚

🎢The long and winding road

That leads to your door
Will never disappear
I've seen that road before
It always leads me here
Lead me to you door🎢

The past couple of days we have traveled the most winding and curvy roads ever. Brent loves it....did I mention that before?

We followed the coastline to Crescent City where we saw the most wildlife ever. Just for you Ilka!

Whalewatching

Westport

Elk

Sea Lion

Seal

We had the best lunch here in Crescent City down by the harbor

Crab, calamari, scallops, oysters, ling cod, prawns and a little bit of vegs..

Still singing...🎢🎢🎢

Fort Bragg

We left Yu standing on the steps of the International House at Berkeley. It is always so hard to say goodbye but we will see her again soon. She is an amazing and beautiful young woman and we are so very proud of her πŸ’•

Traveling along the freeway is always an adventure....cars that travel much faster and manage to weave in and out and around like a smooth dancer...amazing to watch. The day started out foggy but started to break as we left the city behind. Richmond Bridge has a toll ...$5 gets you over

Oil refineries on the other side

Carminy (GPS) took us on a scenic route from Cloverdale to Mendocino and on to Fort Bragg. So many wineries...and we managed to pass them all without stopping. Brent loved the drive as the road was very very curvy ...I mean very curvy...did I mention it was curvy? ....and then you come across a redwood park. It was so beautiful I forgot to use my outside voice and tell Brent to stop so I could take pics...

We finally arrived in Fort Bragg and tried to find a place to have lunch...not easy as it’s Sunday and only places open appeared to be fast food...yuk. So our stomachs took over and guided us to a tavern which totally shocked us. Inside they had their own beer on tap and a fine dining room. The food was pretty good with the exception of my steak which was all gristle. Our waitress was so accommodating and all was good.

We were beginning to fade so we thought we'd best start looking for a place to lay our heads. Came across the nicest place looking out over the ocean. Wow!

View from our room

We quickly unpacked and went for walk down to the beach. Met a couple over their dogs...sooo cute...the lady was from Paradise. This is the town that was completely lost to the forest fire recently. She was lucky...one yr ago she had decided it was time to move out of Paradise...sold her house...which is now gone. Her angels were looking after her.

....and that’s a wrap πŸ’–
