Bretschneider’s in Canada 2018

We are very happy to meet Ilka’s parents and to share with them some of her experiences in Canada. Thank you for sharing your daughter with us for the past 10 months. It was such a privilege and we loved every moment of our time with her.

It’s always a good sign when a visit begins in the kitchen! Jürgen is tasked with peeling potatoes for a German potato salad that was delicious 😋

....opening her farewell card from us... 😢

Love this shot...

We went for a short hike around Gibson Lake. This is the first of many lakes on the way up to Kokanee Glacier.  It was perfect for me

For the folks that spend nights camping, it is highly recommended to protect your tires from the porcupines

The Bretschneider’s have graciously allowed me to tag along on their two weeks of holidaying in BC (I promise to be on my best behavior)

Day 1...viewpoint overlooking the Slocan Lake

Waterfall just before the Galena Bay ferry

We drove directly to Mt. Revelstoke as we had lots of time before checking into our hotel. The weather was not so nice and whenever we stopped we were lucky in that the rain was not too bad. But there were moments....we could only drive up 20 km and then the road was closed due to snow!  We did manage to get in a short 1 km hike. I had to turn around as the grade was too steep. Apparently I was almost to the end...oh well, next time...😊

Overlooking Revelstoke

...and on our way to the Revelstoke Lodge...a Canadian Moose!
