Before coming to the top of “the Hill” we saw more devastation from a forest fire
This is at the viewpoint looking towards Bella Coola
...and our Mountaineer checking out “the Hill” it drops quite quickly, and is narrow and windy
Partway down
...at the bottom we stopped to stretch our legs and found more mosquitoes waiting for us!
Not much happening around Bella Coola....Ilka took these shots in this Hyergliphic Museum
There was a lot of talk around town about the bears. Even a few Conservation Officers to help with the control of them. But did we see any? Nope...Nada...even went looking...one of the locals told us to go here...do you spot any?

Bella Coola Barbour at dawn
The ferry was to sail at 7 am. We were told to be there 2 1/2 hrs early or we were going to lose our reservations. So we were there at 4:30 am! And guess what? The staff (one person carrying a clipboard) arrived at 6:00 am. The captain of the ferry didn’t arrive much later. There’s some 'splaining to happen I tell you. A couple of people were not morning people...
...a sea otter happy to see us...
....despite the early start to our day the scenery was well worth the wait!
We were told that there was only one more sailing on this ferry and it was being retired to another place. Being replaced by a faster ferry that was going direct to Port Hardy, whereas we transferred in Bella Bella after arriving at 4:00 pm (long day). We were very lucky to have such great weather.

After transferring to a bigger ferry I stopped taking pics and had a much needed nap. We finally arrived in Port Hardy at 11:30ish and immediately tumbled into bed.
