It is believed that this fire started as a result of the lightning storms we've been experiencing.
The fire is North of Nelson aprox 7 miles (Aprox 12 km) from the city of Nelson. We live in the opposite direction... Folks In that area have been on evacuation notice since. The fire has been pushed back away from residences and is still burning. Last we heard it was reported to be over 380 hectares. It is very scary for those involved.
So far no reports of injuries and we ourselves are safe.
