Life with Mona & Brent: Seattle Family Day 2018

We had a big surprise planned for Ilka on the Family Day weekend. The planning began in October. It was extremely difficult to keep this from her and I almost spilled the beans several times. Everyone knew about this here and in Germany. The neighbors from Germany were the surprise. She grew up with them and is very close to them. The son, Leon, and Ilka are very close in age. The last few months while in Canada is the longest they have been apart!

Their plan was to arrive in Seattle and then drive to Nelson via Vancouver. Since my girlfriend lives there we thought why not meet them there and give them a few more days together .... and ...

....we had gone shopping nearby mall....the plan was to be in the hotel room by 1:00...it’s now after 12:00 and Ilka was still wanting to shop...Brent is getting nervous...what if we see them in the lobby? Giggle 🤭....whew we make it to the room and the front desk clerk had let me know that she was to phone their room as soon as we passed by....there’s a knock on our door...”Ilka, why don’t you peep through the peephole” she’s never done this before...she looks, gasps, shakes her head, looks again, opens the door, only sees Leon, shakes her head again .... this surprise was soooo worth it!

On our way to Seattle, Brent asked me to take photos of the US landscape so that he could see any differences.
