When planning this year's Spring Break trip to the "big island in the Pacific" aka Vancouver Island I thought that perhaps the focus should be about the food and we all love food! Brent really liked the restaurants that we have found in the past and really wants to re-visit them. No problem :-)
We begin our journey by staying one night in Kelowna as I had a dental appointment. The sun was out when I went in and was gone when I came out, darn it.
We traditionally have a picnic in our hotel room and who are we to change tradition?
Note the dessert?! Of course we didn't wait for me to snap a shot first... Hahaha!
Okay not so fancy but it will definitely get better, have to start at the bottom and work our way up. Don't you think?
Breakfast was simple coffee, yogurt & my homemade granola for me and Brent a banana. Yuna chose to sleep (who does that?)
We arrived at Horseshoe Bay missing the one o'clock ferry by 10 min. but managed to get on the three o'clock. So with an hour and a half to spare we walked into the village and now the real eating begins...
....and of course what to do while waiting for your food to arrive?
...fish tacos
Seafood chowder
....all gone...
This is our favourite restaurant in Courtenay
Out for dinner with Brent's dad, Erv
Rice bowl
Fish and Chips
Seafood combo
...and again fish tacos
....excersize...at the "View of the Shed B&B" although we weren't there for the "B" part! (Aka Daryl & Karen's)
...and a nap!
We brought the racqulette...
....breakfasts
....first time eating a Nanaimo Bar in Nanaimo!
....and of course we can't forget Bruce!
Onto Vancouver...day one...Japanese. It says Mongolian but it's also Japanese!
Rice bowl
Salad
Sushi
Bento Box
It was pretty funny when Brent ordered Asahi beer...
....and they brought us a Sake! Waiter sighs and says, "we make this mistake often"!
Walking back to the hotel
I think he only knows one song...or he sees us coming and plays it just for us?
....so tempting...
Playing with reflections
Oh my sore feet....
Mall food court...where to start?!
All you can eat Korean BBQ..
We tried the pork, beef, lamb, prawns, sushi, tofu...just to name a few
Kim chee....yummy!
Day trip over to Longsdale Key
Vancouver ducks?
Napping again!
Gastown
Our all time most favourite special place...
...not just any oil and balsamic, but lobster oil and balsamic! Too die for!
Seafood platter for three...
Lobster, crab, scallops, prawns, salmon, oyster Rockefeller, mussels, steak plus the vegs & rice!
Trying to not step on any cracks...
Goodnight Vancouver...after all that food that was consumed I still managed to lose a couple of pounds! Woot!
